Your freedom and future are at stake.

Drinking and Driving ARE Deadly

Even when you don’t do both at the same time. Let this case be a warning to you: After you’ve been drinking with friends, never criticize their driving. Unless you want to get stabbed in the neck, like Samuel Valdivia. Mr. Valdivia was found stabbed to death in his apartment just before 3:30 AM on March 14, 2010.

Why, you ask? Well, not only do most homicides happen after alcohol consumption, but apparently Valdivia’s friend Amulfo Gonzalez did not take kindly to a negative review of his driving techniques. The “friends” had been out drinking at a bar together before returning to Valdivia’s apartment on North Olive Street in Orange.

Apparently the argument wasn’t even about Valdivia’s car, but how Gonzalez had been driving a mutual friend’s car. Quite a severe reaction from Gonzalez for sure, and now Valdivia will not have the chance to realize that he needed to be choosing his friends more carefully. A LOT more carefully…

Gonzalez was picked up a few hours after the stabbing, when officers saw him driving around the streets. The knife used was found in the courtyard of the apartment complex. Since Gonzalez, a former Las Vegas resident, is said to have been living out of his car at the time, he will now no longer need to look for accommodation, as he is facing 16 years to life in prison.

We’ve all known the dangers of road rage for some time now, but hopefully this won’t become the next hazard for drivers.
